Let’s arrange the terms in a suitable form;


x2 – ax – bx + ab


= x2 – bx – ax + ab


= (x2 – bx) – (ax – ab)


= x(x – b) – a(x – b)


= (x – b)(x –a)


So we get,


x2 – ax – bx + ab = (x – b)(x –a)
