Q31 of 137 Page 102

Factorize:

3z2 – 10z + 8

Given,

3z2 – 10z + 8

Now, first we have to find out the numbers whose-

Sum = - 10 and

Product = 3 × 8 = 24

The numbers are 6 and 4,

So,

3z2 – 10z + 8

= 3z2 – 6z – 4z + 8

= 3z(z – 2) – 4(z – 2)

= (z – 2)(3z – 4)
