Given,


p2 + 6p – 16


Now first find the numbers whose-


Sum = 6 and


Product = - 16


Required numbers are 8 and 2,


So we get;


p2 + 6p – 16


= p2 + 8p – 2p – 16


= p(p + 8) – 2(p + 8)


= (p + 8)(p – 2)
