Find the coordinates of the midpoint of the line segment joining

P(– 11, – 8) and Q(8, – 2).


X = (m1x2 + m2x1)/ m1 + m2


= (1 × 8 + 1x (– 11)/1 + 1


= (8 – 11) /2


= – 3/2


Y = (m1y2 + m2y1)/ m1 + m2


= (1x (– 2) + 1x – 8)/2


= (– 2 – 8)/2


= – 10 / 2 = – 5
