The distance between any two points P1(x1, y1) and P2(x2, y2) is given by the following formula:



From the question we have,


⇒ P1(x1, y1) = (0, 0)…………co-ordinates of origin


⇒ P2(x2, y2) = (-6, 8)…………co-ordinates of point


⇒


⇒ d = √(36 + 64 )


⇒ d = √100


⇒ d = 10 units


Therefore the distance between the point and origin is 10 units.
