The area of a trapezium is 300 m2. The perpendicular distance between the two parallel sides is 15 m. If the difference between the parallel sides is 16 m, find the length of parallel sides.

Given:


Area of trapezium = 300 m2


Perpendicular distance between parallel sides = 15 m


Let one parallel side be x, other side be 16 + x




2 x + 16 = 40


2 x = 24


x = 12


therefore, the sides are 12 m and 28 m
