Why did British develop colonial urban centres at the hill stations ? Explain.

The British develop colonial urban centres at the hill stations because the colder temperature at hill stations attracted the British. The architecture in these hill station was made in Victorian style, as to provide resemblance to place like bath in England. Theatres, picnic spots and church were build in these hill station to give it a home-like feel for the British. The British soldiers were sent to these hill stations for recreation and to recover from injury. The tea and coffee plantations were an important part of colonial economy.
