Name the following:

The condition of a cell placed in a hypotonic solution.

When a cell is placed in a hypotonic solution the concentration of water is much more in the solution than in the sap. Thus, water rushes into the cell from its higher concentration to its lower concentration thus making the cell highly inflated. This condition of the cell is known as turgidity and the cell is thus, turgid.
