Give reasons for the following:

If you sprinkle some common salt on grass growing on a lawn, it is killed at that spot.

The reason is that because when salt is added in the soil the concentration of the soil around the roots of the grass increases. This leads to exosmosis of water from the root hair cells of the grasses leading to plasmolysis and finally death.
