Examine whether the following equations are quadratic equations or not:

⇒ = 2


⇒ x2 + 1 = 2x


⇒ x2 – 2x + 1 = 0


Comparing equation x2 – 2x + 1 = 0 with ax2 + bx + c = 0 we get


a = 1, b = – 2 and c = 1


Here a, b, c ∈ R and a ≠ 0


The degree of polynomial x2 – 2x + 1 = 0 is 2


Hence x + = 2 is a quadratic equation
