Solve the following quadratic equations using factorization:

x2 — 12 = 0

(x – 2√ 3)(x + 2√ 3) = 0

(∵ a2 – b2 = (a + b)(a – b), and 12 = (2√ 3)2)


⇒ x – 2√ 3 = 0 or x + 2√ 3 = 0


⇒ x = 2√ 3 or x = – 2√ 3
