If price of sugar decreases by 5, one can buy 1 kg more sugar in ! 150, what is the price of the sugar?

Let price of 1 kg sugar be x.

If price decreased by Rs. 5,then new price = x – 5


∴ quantity can be


Given, one can buy 1 kg more sugar –



⇒ 150x – 150x + 750 = x2 – 5x


⇒ x2 – 5x – 750 = 0


⇒ x2 – (30 – 25)x – 750 = 0


⇒ x2 – 30x + 25x – 750 = 0


⇒ x(x – 30) + 25(x – 30) = 0


⇒ (x – 30)(x + 25) = 0


⇒ x = 30 or x = – 25


But price cannot be negative.


⇒ x = 30/kg
