x2 — 24x + 144 – 160 = 0


⇒ (x – 12)2 – 160 = 0


⇒ (x – 12)2 – (4√ 10)2 = 0


⇒ (x – 12 – 4√ 10)(x – 12 + 4√ 10) = 0


⇒ x – 12 – 4√ 10 = 0 or x – 12 + 4√ 10 = 0


⇒ x = 12 + 4√ 10 or x = 12 – 4√ 10
