What will happen if ligaments get overstretched?

Ligaments are strong elastic bands of tissue that joins the bones. If ligaments get overstretched it may result in a sprain. Sprains are often recognized as localized swelling or pain.

• Rahul took part in the sports day of his school and while running in a 400m race, he suddenly twists his ankle and falls.

• He could not walk after that and was taken to the injury room on a stretcher.

• When the doctor examined his ankle, he found swelling on Rahul’s ankle and also it was bruised and bluish.

• The doctor hence came to the conclusion and told Rahul’s parents that the ligaments of the area are overstretched resulting in a sprain.
