Name the two glands associated with the digestive system in humans. Name their secretion also.

The two glands associated with the digestive system in humans are:

i. SALIVARY GLAND- The salivary glands are present in the mouth and secrete saliva. The saliva contains an enzyme salivary amylase that breaks down starch.

ii. GLANDS- These glands are present in the walls of the stomach. They release hydrochloric acid (HCl), a protein-digesting enzyme called pepsin and mucus.

i. The HCl creates the acidic medium for the action of the enzyme pepsin.

ii. Pepsin helps in the breakdown of proteins.

iii. The mucus protects the inner lining of the stomach from the acid.
