i. Need for artificial respiration: When the lungs are not able to provide proper oxygen to the body that is if a person is suffering from some breathing problem, then artificial respiration is needed.

ii. If a person is suffering from acute breathing problem, the artificial respiration is only temporary. It provides relief to the person by helping in the breathing. But if the breathing problem increases and the person is not able to respire on its own, then the artificial respiration can be permanent too.

iii. Supply of artificial respiration: The supply of artificial respiration can be fulfilled by the oxygen pumps or cylinders filled with oxygen.
