The liquid matrix of the blood is known as Plasma.

Components of plasma: The plasma contains the red blood cells (erythrocytes), white blood cells (leukocytes) and platelets (thrombocytes).


Two functions of the blood:


1. It is a fluid connective tissue which transports the gases (O2 and CO2) as well as nutrients.


2. The platelets present in the blood forms the blood clot to prevent the excess blood loss.
