Q32 of 90 Page 113

Plants have low energy needs as compared to animals.

• The most energy-requiring process is the movement in which an organism moves from one place to another and changes its position.

• Plants do not move from one place to another.

• The only movement that takes place in the plants is on a cellular level that takes place through diffusion, transpirational pull etc.

• Animals need to move from one place to another to fulfill their needs such as to take food etc.

• Movement from one place to another requires a lot of energy which is needed by animals, not plants.

Hence, plants have low energy needs as compared to the animals.
