What are transgenic animals? Give an example.

A transgenic animal is any animal in whose genome any foreign, new or altered genes have been inserted using genetic engineering techniques. They are said to be genetically modified organisms. Knock-out mice are an example of transgenic organisms. Dolly the sheep is the most famous example of a transgenic animal.
