A. It is generally observed that the children who had suffered from chicken – pox in their childhood may not contract the same disease in their adulthood. Explain giving reasons the basis of such an immunity in an individual. Name this kind of immunity.

B. What are interferons? Mention their role.

A. In the first encounter with chicken pox, the body of an infected person develops primary response and antibodies against the chicken pox virus. On a subsequent encounter with the same virus, the body produces a highly intensified secondary response. This happens due to the memory cells formed during the first encounter.

B. Interferons are the proteins secreted by virus-infected cells. These interferons protect the non-infected cells from viral infection.
