The European Union was established in 1992 and was a direct result of the collapse of the Soviet Bloc. Although it does not have its own constitution, four common symbols that contribute towards its nation state like identity are –


• It has its own flag.


• It has its own anthem.


• The European Union has a founding date.


• It has its own currency in the form of ‘Euro’.
