How did the split in Czechoslovakia differ from breaking apart of Yugoslavia ?

The split in Czechoslovakia was a peaceful affair where the Czechs and the Slovaks formed independent countries. But Yugoslavia saw severe conflict before disintegration in to provinces like Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina which declared their independence. This was opposed by the ethnic Serbs and non-Serb Bosnians were massacred. This inter-ethnic civil war was followed by intervention from NATO and the bombing of Yugoslavia.
