d = an + 1–an


In the sum above A.P follows


Is 7, 12, 17, 22, ……, 102


In the following A.P


a = 7,


d = 12–7 = 5


As the last term is 102


an = a + (n–1)d


102 = 7 + (n–1)5


102 = 7 + 5n–5


5n = 102–2


n = = 20


Sn = [2a + (n–1)d]


= [2×7 + (20–1)5]


= 10[14 + 19×5]


= 10[14 + 95]


= 1090
