The difference between two whole number is 66. The ratio of the two numbers is 2: 5. What are two numbers?

Le the two numbers are x and y...


According to the question


⇒ 2x = 5y ……(i)


⇒ x – y = 66 ……(ii)


Or, x = 66 + y ……(iii)


Putting this value of x in eq.(i) we get :


⇒ 2(66 + y) = 5y


⇒ 132 + 2y = 5y


⇒ 3y = 132


⇒ y = 44


Putting this value of y in eq.(iii) we get :


⇒ x = 66 + 44


⇒ x = 110
