Sushma brought a saree from the mall. She paid 2640 for it. When she came home she measured the length of the saree and found that the saree was half a meter less in length than what the shopkeeper had told her. She found that she is at a loss of 220 because of this. What is the length of the saree she bought home?

Let the length of the sari be 'x' m


Cost of 1/2 m = Rs 220


then cost of 1 m = 2 × Rs 220 = Rs 440


Cost of the sari = x × Rs 440 = Rs 440x


But given that the cost of the sari = Rs 2640


So,


⇒ 440x = 2640



∴ x = 6


∴ The length of the sari = x m = 6 m
