Arjun is twice as old as Shriya. Five years ago he was three times Shriya's age. Find their present age.

Let the age of Arjun be x and age of Shriya be y

According to the question


⇒ x = 2y ……(i)


also,


5 years ago their ages,


⇒ x – 5 = 3 (y – 5)


⇒ x – 5 = 3y – 15


⇒ 3y – x = 10 ……(ii)


Substitute the value of x from equation (i) and equation (ii)


⇒ 3y – 2y = 10


y = 10


x = 2y = 2 × 10 = 20 years


The age of Arjun is 20 years and age of Shriya is 10 years.
