Rakhi is 26 years younger than her mother. In 9 years, her mother will be twice as old as Rakhi. Find their present ages.

Let the present age of Rakhi be x.

then,


Age of Her Mother = x + 26 .


After nine years ,


Age of Rakhi = x + 9 .


Age of Rakhi's Mother = x + 26 + 9 = x + 35.


According to the question,


⇒ x + 35 = 2(x + 9)


⇒ x + 35 = 2x + 18


⇒ 35 – 18 = 2x – x


⇒ 17 = x


Hence,


The present age of Rakhi = x = 17 years.


And the present age of her mother = x + 26 = 41.
