Q17 of 37 Page 35

Two equal sides of an isosceles triangle are 2 cm more than thrice the third side. If the perimeter of a triangle is 67 cm. Find the lengths of its sides.

Let the third side be 'x'

According to the question,

the two other sides are (3x + 2) cm

Perimeter = 67 cm

x + (3x + 2) + (3x + 2) = 67

7x = 67 – 4

7x = 63

x = 9 cm

So, one side x = 9 cm

Other two sides = 3x + 2 = 18 + 2 = 20 cm
