What does the term "double circulation" mean?

Blood flows twice in the heart before it completes one full round :

a) The short pulmonary (from right ventricle through pulmonary artery to lungs & back through pulmonary veins to left auricle)


b) The long systemic circulation (from the left ventricle through aorta & back to right auricle through superior & inferior venacava).


For this reason, the blood circulation in the human body is also called "double circulation".
