Q3 of 95 Page 94

What are the functions of tonsils and spleen?

Tonsils: The tonsils tend to localize the infection & prevent it from spreading to the body as a whole. The tonsils play a role in protecting the body against respiratory and gastrointestinal infection. They contain a network of crypts (pits) that store cells used to fight infection.

Spleen: The spleen acts like a blood reservoir (in an emergency such as hemorrhage ,physical or emotional stress or in carbon monoxide poisoning , the spleen releases the stored blood into the blood stream), produces lymphocytes , destroys worn-out Red blood cells & in an embryo it produces red blood cells's.
