Factorise the following using appropriate identities.

Take out common factor 3


⇒ 3p2 - 24p + 36 = 3 (p2 – 8p + 12)


Now splitting the middle term of quadratic p2 – 8p + 12 to factorise it


⇒ 3p2 - 24p + 36 = 3 (p2 – 6p – 2p + 12)


= 3 [p (p – 6) – 2 (p – 6)]


= 3 (p – 2) (p – 6)
