Write a short note on Reign of terror in France.

The period between 1793 and 1794 was referred to as the period of the reign of terror. During this period, Maximillian Robespierre followed a policy of severe control and punishment. He jailed and punished all those people who didn’t agree with his policies. He also Guillotined (it is a device, named after Dr Guillotin, which has two poles and a blade with which the person is beheaded) the individuals whom he found guilty. Some of the policies followed by him were- Equal distribution of meat and bread, the maximum upper limit was set on wages and prices, citizens were made to eat loaf made of whole wheat, Churches were closed down and their buildings were made into barracks and offices, etc.
