Who were Jacobins? Who was their leader?

During the time of the revolution, there were some people who wanted to establish their own forms of actions and wanted to discuss government policies. So political clubs were formed and one of the most successful clubs known as Jacobins began its activities. This club has derived its name from the St. Jacob in Paris. This club included people like – shopkeepers, artisans, daily wage workers, etc.

Maximilian Robespierre was the leader of the Jacobins club. He believed that all those who stood up against the Republic were his enemies like nobles, clergy, and members of the opposite party and also arrested and imprisoned them.
