The status of the women in France before the revolution was:

• Especially the women of the third estate worked hard to earn for their livelihood. They were even not allowed to pursue education or for job training. Laundresses, sold flowers, selling fruits and vegetables, employed as domestic servants were some of the jobs done by women to earn for their livelihood.


• They were not allowed to run business, to pursue education and no job training was provided to them. The daughters of rich people used to go to schools and pursued education.


• The women looked after their families, cooked food, queue up for bread and fetch water. And along with this they also worked but get paid less than men.
