Q19 of 274 Page 82

If (x + 1) is a factor of 2x2+ kx, then k =?

Let p (x) = 2x2 + kx

It is given that, (x + 1) is a factor of (2x2 + kx)

Thus, x = -1 is a factor of (2x2 + kx)

∴ p (-1) = 0

2 (-1)2 + k (-1) = 0

2 – k = 0

k = 2

Thus, the value of k = 2

Hence, option C is correct
