Solve the following equation:

5x – 12 = 2x – 6

Given equation: 5x – 12 = 2x – 6

⇒ 5x – 2x = -6 + 12 (Transposing 2x to LHS and 12 to RHS)


3x = 6


⇒ x = (Transposing 3 to RHS)


x = 2


∴ The solution of 5x – 12 = 2x – 6 is x = 2.
