Solve the following equation:

3x + 4 = 5 (x–2)

Given equation: 3x + 4 = 5 (x–2)

3x + 4 = 5x – 10 (Removing bracket)


3x – 5x = -10 – 4 (Transposing 5x to LHS and 4 to RHS)


-2x = -14


x = (Transposing -2 to RHS)


x = 7


The solution of 3x + 4 = 5 (x–2) is x = 7.
