94 x 97 = (100 – 6)(100 – 3)

Using identity –


(x – a)(x – b) = x2 – (a + b)x + ab, we get -


Take 94 = 100 – 6 and 97 = 100 – 3


94 x 97 = 1002 – (6 + 3)100 + 6× 3


= 10000 – 900 + 18


= 9118
