We can get the point of intersection of the straight lines 9x – y – 2 = 0 and 2x + y – 9 = 0 by solving these equations.



⇒ 11x = 11


⇒ x = 1


Substitute x = 1 in 9x–y–2 = 0.


⇒ 9(1)–y–2 = 0


⇒ 9–2–y = 0


⇒ 7 = y or y = 7


∴ The point of intersection is (1,7)
