Given a2 + 13a + 12


Using (x + a)(x + b) = x2 + (a + b)x + ab … (I)


⇒ a2 + 13a + 12= a2 + (12 + 1)a + (12)×(1)


On comparing with (I),


a = 12 and b = 1


So, a2 + 13a + 12= (a + 12)(a + 1)
