Given x2 – 28x + 132


Using (x + a)(x + b) = x2 + (a + b)x + ab … (I)


⇒ x2 – 28x + 132= x2 + ( – 22 – 6)x + ( – 22)×( – 6)


On comparing with (I),


a = – 22 and b = – 6


So, x2 – 28x + 132 = (x – 22)(x – 6)
