Q8 of 54 Page 77

A school has 630 students. The ratio of number of boys to number of girls is 3:2. This ratio changes to 7:5 after the admission of 90 new students. Find newly admitted boys.

New ratio = 7:5

Let ratio be x

Number of boys = 7x

Number of girls = 5x

Total students = 630 + 90 = 720

Total students = Number of boys + Number of girls

720 = 7x + 5x

720 = 12x

x = 60

Number of boys = 7x

= 60×7

= 420
