Manjit is now 12 years old and Mala is two years old. In how many years will Manjit be only three times as old as Mala?

Manjit's age = 12 years

Mala's age = 2 years


After x years ,


Manjit's age = 12 + x years


Mala's age = 2 + x years


According to the question,


Manjit's age = 3 times of Mala's age


12 + x = 3(2 + x)


12 + x = 6 + 3x


12 – 6 = 3x – x


6 = 2x


Therefore,


2x = 6


x = 6/2


x = 3


After three years Manjit will be three times as old as Mala.
