Check whether the following are quadratic equations:

(x + 2)3 = x3 − 4

Given; (x + 2)3 = x3 − 4

⇒ x3 + 6x2 + 12x + 23 = x3 − 4


⇒ x3 + 6x2 + 12x + 23− x3 + 4 = 0


⇒ 6x2 + 12x + 12 = 0


∵ The highest power of x in the equation is 2;


∴ It is a quadratic equation.
