Q1 of 227 Page 90

Find the LCM of the following

x3 y2 , xyz

Given terms: –

x3, y2 , xyz

Formula used: –

LCM = Least Common Multiple

Means it is the lowest term by which every element must be divided completely;

x3 = x × x × x

y2 = y × y

xyz = x × y × z

first find the common factors in all terms

Common factor = x × y

then multiply the remaining factors of terms in common

factor to get the LCM

= (x × y) × [(x2)(y)(z)]

= x3y2z

Conclusion: –

The LCM of given terms [x3 , y2 , xyz] is x3y2z
