Q5 of 227 Page 114

The sum of two zeros of the polynomial f(x) = 2x2 + (p + 3)x + 5 is zero, then the value of p is

Given: A Quadratic equation f(x) = 2x2 + (p + 3)x + 5 and sum of roots is zero.

Required: to find the value of p

We know that, sum of roots =

∴ = 0

⇒ -(p + 3) = 0

⇒ P + 3 = 0

∴ p = –3

∴ The value of p is –3

∴ Correct option is – Option (C)
