How do fossils help us in understanding the evolutionary history?

1) Paleontological evidences reveal existence of life in past and illustrate a course of evolution of organisms. Fossils are important evidence for evolution because they show that life on earth was once different from life found on earth today.


2) Each fossil discovery represents a snapshot of the process of evolution. They help in connecting the present-day organisms with their ancestors.
