The formula for distance between two points A(x1, y1) and B(x2, y2) is



⇒ AB2 = (x2 – x1)2 + (y2 – y1)2


⇒ 102 = (3 – 11)2 + (–1 – y)2


⇒ 100 = 64 + (1 + y)2


⇒ (1 + y)2 = 36


⇒ 1 + y = ±6


⇒ y = 5 or y = -7
