What changes came in Anne's personality because of her life in the Secret Annex? What impression does it leave on your mind?

Or

Give a character sketch of Edith Frank.

Anne Frank, the main character recorded most of her experiences and struggles in a diary which she called Kitty. In her early entries she described herself as a spoiled, and a selfish little girl who had a petty understanding of her surroundings, and judged people according to her whims until her family had to seek refuge from the World War in the Secret Annexe. There was a significant change in her personality as she had grown out of her spoilt habits in childhood by making sincere efforts to help other refugees in the secret annex. She began to accept the people around her and got rid of her former boredom upon arriving at the secret annex by reading books, learning languages, and engaging herself in multiple tasks. The impression that we get is that Anne Frank is an optimistic, mature, responsible, and hardworking girl. She feels lonely but learns to accept the various hardships, discomforts and confinement she faces during her life in the annex, shows kindness and empathy to others in a bad and is happy to be alive. She always believed that when the war ended, all their hardships would be over and life would be happy. She was an introvert by nature and confided in her diary because relationships were broken during the war.

Edith Frank was Anne Frank's mother. She was from a wealthy family and had spent most of her life in Germany. As a peacemaker, she is the voice of reason during the adult fights in the annex. Anne describes her mother as cold and uncaring and lacking motherly affection towards her children. She feels that her mother favored her older sister, Margot and loved her more. She had very little in common with her mother and has very little sympathy for her. In her later diary entries, however, Anne begins to perceive her mother differently. She begins to cast aside her petty judgments and becomes more sympathetic towards her mother. At the annex, life was difficult living in cramped quarters and soured every relationship. Her mother had to engage herself with multiple jobs to feed her family and the stress and pain of confinement had resulted in her isolation from Anne. She is unable to support Anne emotionally because she is struggling to prevent her family from dying from starvation.
