What is Gene therapy?

Gene therapy is defined as a mode of treatment which uses healthy and normal genes to correct the disease that has been diagnosed in an individual or an embryo.

Suppose if an individual is diagnosed by certain genetic disorder, then the treatment can be done using gene therapy. In this, the normal and healthy genes are delivered in the patient’s body. These normal genes then take over the functions in the body and compensate for the non-functional genes.
